Choppy Wood — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Choppy Wood ("the game", "we", "us") is a one-tap arcade game. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the game handles and why. We collect as little as possible: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics.

The short version

What we store on your device

The game saves a few small values locally on your device (via the standard browser/WebView storage the game runs in) so your experience persists between sessions:

This data stays on your device. Clearing the app's data (or uninstalling) removes it.

What we send to the leaderboard

Choppy Wood has an optional global high-score leaderboard. When you submit a score, the game sends the following to our leaderboard backend (hosted on Supabase, a third-party database provider, on infrastructure in the US/EU):

DataWhyNotes
Random install ID (UUID)To recognize your own row so a new best replaces your previous one (not 100 duplicate rows).Generated randomly on your device. It is not a hardware ID, not linked to your identity, and is never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
3-letter initialsShown next to your score on the public leaderboard. You choose these. They are visible to other players.
ScoreTo rank you on the leaderboard.A plain number.
Run length (seconds)A server-side anti-cheat plausibility check only.Not displayed.

We do not send any other data with a score. There is no account, login, email, or password anywhere in the game.

Leaderboard initials are public and moderated

The 3-letter initials you pick are shown to other players. To keep the leaderboard family-friendly, the server enforces a 3-character limit and rejects a blocklist of offensive combinations. Please don't try to enter anything you wouldn't want a child to see — it will likely be rejected, and we may remove entries that slip through.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone for advertising or marketing. The leaderboard data above is processed only by our database provider (Supabase) acting on our behalf to operate the leaderboard feature. We use no ad networks and no analytics providers.

Children's privacy

Choppy Wood is suitable for all ages and contains only mild cartoon imagery. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The game has no chat, no messaging, no profiles, no photos, and no way to contact other players. The only user-entered content is 3 initials, which are moderated as described above.

Security

The leaderboard connection is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). The random install ID is the only identifier involved, and it cannot be tied back to you.

Your choices and deleting your data

Changes to this policy

If we change how the game handles data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
